Hsinchu, Taiwan, January 12, 2006 - SemiLEDs Corporation and NeoPac Lighting, Inc. announced today a major leap toward the adoption of LEDs in the lighting markets. Four SemiLEDs' MvpLEDTM (SL-V-B40AA) chips, packaged in NeoPac's single-packaged, point-light-source NeoBulbTM Light Engine and operating at 4W, can produce more than 240 lumens or a luminous efficacy of over 60 lumens per watt, which is nearly 50% brighter than the currently commercially available products in the market.

"By using eight chips NeoPac? package platform, the NeoBulbTM Light Engine operating at 8W can produce more than 460 lumens or a luminous efficacy of over 58 lumens per watt," said Jeffrey Chen, President and CEO of NeoPac Lighting, Inc. "The LEDs junction temperature (Tj) can be well controlled at only 60 degrees."
