Milpitas, California and Hsinchu, Taiwan, December 26, 2006 – SemiLEDs Corporation and PowerChip Group jointly announced today that SemiLEDs has secured an investment by Powerchip Semiconductor Corp., Taiwan's biggest DRAM Company.

SemiLEDs is currently the sole maker of metal-base LED in the world. It specializes in high-brightness LED with breakthrough products in blue, green and NUV. It aims at serving the general lighting market, backlight, automobile, among other markets.
